SASFA’s development activities is directed, planned and executed via a system of committees consisting of industry representatives. SASFA relies on active participation of its members and industry specialists on the committees. Nominations for participation on committees are invited during annual general industry meetings.

Committees

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee consists of representatives of the major material suppliers to the Light Steel Frame Building Industry (Mittal Steel, Everite, BPB Gypsum, Lafarge Gypsum, Owens Corning and Brits), nominated profiler and other members, and representatives of the Institute of Steel Construction. The Steering Committee meets monthly to direct the activities of the SASFA committees, and to monitor the budget and progress.

Technical Committee

Members of the Technical Committee consist of representatives of the major material suppliers, nominated profiler and other members, a consulting engineer, and representatives of the SABS, NHBRC, CSIR, Universities as well as the SA Institute of Steel Construction. The Technical Committee oversees technical aspects of development work, such as the drafting of the Light Steel Frame Building National Standard.

Training Committee

Training of practitioners and artisans is of vital importance in the development of this new industry. This committee is responsible for the planning and compilation of the necessary training programmes.
